The Challenge

Situated in the heart of London’s financial city centre, Thames Court is a busy, multi occupied office building which has won many design awards since it was built in 1998.

In the main front lobby entrance, the old entrance matting was starting to break down due to wear and tear from the heavy footfall entering the building. The Thames Court maintenance staff contacted TAD Contracts, a company based in Canary Wharf with more than 20 years’ experience in the refurbishment of prestigious buildings. The replacement matting had to help prevent slip and trip hazards in wet weather, and protect the slate tile floor in the lobby from damage caused by grit and dirt. It also had to be wheelchair and caster friendly for any disabled visitors. Due to health and safety issues the matting would also have to be installed out of office hours.

The Solution

TAD Contracts got in touch with Quantum Flooring Solutions. They requested the Free QSMS measuring service. This ensured that, within 24 hours, a Quantum Matting surveyor had been to the offices and measured up the matting area. This was done in the evening to minimise disruption. The chosen matting was the 17mm Quantum Grid Matting system with anthracite coloured textile inserts. On the evening of installation 15sqm of the matting was taken to the site and cut to the perfect size using Quantum Matting Supply and Fit Service.

Outcome

As required, the Quantum Matting was measured and installed outside office hours, to ensure minimal disruption. After the evening installation the matting was ready for the next working day with no delays. The Quantum ‘Grid’ Matting System is a hard wearing and durable product. This is excellent for office buildings, such as Thames Court, which have heavy footfall throughout the day.
