What is an insulated DPC?
An insulated damp-proof course (DPC) is a layer of insulation that is placed above the damp-proof course in a building’s walls. The damp-proof course is a horizontal and vertical layer of material that is installed in the walls of a building to prevent moisture from rising up through the walls from the ground. It is typically made of a waterproof material, such as a plastic sheet or asphalt-saturated felt, and is installed at the base of the walls above ground level.
An insulated DPC is a layer of insulation that is placed above the damp-proof course in order to improve the energy efficiency of the building. It is typically made of a foam or fiberglass material, and is designed to reduce heat loss through the walls by providing an additional layer of insulation.
The use of an insulated DPC can help to reduce the amount of energy needed to heat and cool a building, which can result in lower energy bills and a smaller carbon footprint. It is often used in conjunction with other energy-saving measures, such as insulation in the walls and roof, and high-efficiency heating and cooling systems.
